ORGANIC CERTIFICATION – FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW
When we speak of organic foods, the first thing that comes to mind is the several health benefits that they bring. Now what separates organic foods from the usual are methods used to produce them.
Organic foods must comply with the standards of organic farming, which include practices such as promoting ecological balance, conserving biodiversity, and restriction on use of industrial solvents, or synthetic food additives. There are organisations dedicated to ensure that these standards are maintained.
Essentially, producers and businesses dealing with organic foods must obtain an Organic Certification for everything that they produce. In order to get that certification, certain requirements must be fulfilled. These include:
- Avoiding the use of synthetic chemicals including fertilisers, pesticides, antibiotics, and food additives, among others.
- Making sure that the products are not exposed to radiation of any kind, and that genetically modified seeds are not used.
- Ensuring that the soil on the farmland has been free of any chemical for three years or more.
- Hygiene to be maintained throughout storage, processing, packaging and shipping at the factory.
Globally, bodies such as the APEDA, Organic Federation of Australia, the European Union, and the USDA, among several others, set the guidelines for certification of organic foods. Moreover, on meeting the required guidelines set by these bodies, foods earn an official label classifying them as organic.
Now when it comes to certification, Temple Crops leaves no stone unturned. Right from the farm, through the factory until our products reach to you, we make sure that our quality stays uncompromised all the time.
Our farmers are carefully chosen and trained to work towards practicing environment-friendly farming techniques. From the chemical-free soil to ensure that no genetically modified seeds are brought into use, everything is organically farmed to give you the product of highest quality.
Next comes the factory, where our products are stored in a CO2 fumigated environment to get rid of bacteria & insect infestation, if any. Our advanced practices and dehydration technologies ensure that all our products retain their maximum level of potency.
